Mercer Educational Gardens: This two-acre award winning site features a self-guided tour of display gardens, a wetland meadow, and more than 20 composting methods for home use. It is a volunteer project of the Rutgers Master Gardeners of Mercer County.

History & Establishment: The Mercer Educational Gardens is unique in Mercer County and is located in the Equestrian District of Mercer Meadows. This educational facility uses self-guided tours to teach responsible gardening and backyard composting to the residents of Mercer County. There are seven demonstration gardens, a native plant meadow and 20 different compost bins, many of which can be made at home with common material. The Mercer Educational Gardens has been located at this site since 1998 when it was established by the Rutgers Master Gardeners of Mercer County and the Mercer County Improvement Authority.
