Water Resource Planning
Wastewater Management Planning
The Mercer County government has been the official “Designated Planning Agency” for Water Quality Management Planning in Mercer County since 1978. The Mercer County Planning Board, with technical support from the Planning Department, carries out the tasks and procedures relevant to the maintenance of the Mercer County Wastewater Management Plan (WMP), sewer service area (SSA) mapping, and revisions/amendments to the WMP.
Stormwater Management Planning
The Mercer County Planning Board plays a role in Stormwater Management in Mercer County by exercising its rights under the “County Planning Act” [N.J.S.A. 40:27] to review those site plans and subdivisions within Mercer County that will result in one or more acres of impervious surface, and/or are located along a County roadway, and/or will have an impact on County drainage facilities as determined by the County Engineer. One element of said review is on-site stormwater management. The Planning and Engineering Departments provide technical review, support, and recommendations to the Planning Board, guided by the County Land Development Standards and relevant New Jersey State Stormwater regulations.
