Complete Streets Excellence Award for Bicycle Plan Implementation
The 2023 New Jersey Complete Streets Summit, sponsored by the New Jersey Department of Transportation, was held on November 1, 2023. This biennial Summit brings together planners, engineers, public officials, health professionals, advocates, and others involved with shaping communities throughout New Jersey. Summit session topics include institutionalizing Complete and Green Streets policies, lessons learned from implementation, and what is in store for the Complete Streets movement.
Mercer County was one of the winners of the 2023 Complete Streets Excellence Awards. Complete Streets Excellence Awards are given to municipalities, organizations, or projects that have demonstrated excellence in Complete Streets implementation. In 2020, Mercer County released the County Bicycle Master Plan. The plan provides guidance for the county to implement bicycle facility installations and improvements during routine resurfacing, and the county now regularly implements Complete Streets improvements when appropriate during these projects.
As part of the award ceremony, NJDOT created a video showcasing Mercer County’s efforts. The video can be accessed via the image below:
