The Shade Tree Unit maintains the trees lining the 180 miles of County-maintained roadways.  Routine trimming, hazardous tree removals, insect and disease control, tree replacement and planting projects are all part of the Unit's daily activities. In addition to County Right-of-Way tree health, the Unit maintains traffic control device visibility and roadway traveler viewsheds. They also help keep the roadway rainwater drainage system and guide rail safety systems clear of debris and overgrowth.
