Board counsel is the Commissioners lawyer. The position was created by statute, and the Board Counsel serves the Board by giving legal advice on matters pertinent to the board functions and duties. The Board Counsel represents the Board in any litigation with the County Executive, which is the executive branch. The Board Counsel approves as to form and legality of all resolutions and ordinances initiated by the Board. The County Commissioners appoint Board Counsel.
