TRENTON - Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami Covello announced that her election office will be offering extended hours this Saturday for those that wish to Vote-By-Mail prior to Election Day. The extended hours will be from 9:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday, October 31, 2015. The office of the Board of Elections will also be open for Vote-by-Mail processing.

Mercer County voters may visit the office right now and apply for a Vote-by-Mail ballot, and vote in person up until 3:00 pm on Monday, November 2nd, the day before the election.

Voters must directly drop-off their ballots at the Mercer County Board of Election at 640 South Broad Street in Trenton, in order for the vote to be counted. In order to Vote-By-Mail in New Jersey and obtain a mail-in ballot, you must already be a registered voter in the county.

The County is offering these expanded Vote-by-Mail hours to make it convenient for those who might not be able to visit the Clerk's Office during regular business hours.

"Voting should be accessible to any registered voter and sometimes business hours are not convenient for working people. That is why we extended the hours," said Clerk Sollami Covello.

Clerk Sollami Covello also reminds voters to follow the instructions carefully so that their votes can be counted.

The Board of Elections, chaired by Joanne Palmucci, will be open from 9:30am to 2:30pm for those wishing to return their completed ballots on Saturday, October 31, 2015. The Mercer County Board of Elections is located at 640 South Broad Street in Trenton.

The Clerk would also like to announce recent changes in the law for a "messenger" of an application for Vote-By-Mail and "bearer" of a voted ballot. Effective as of August 2015, the law states "No Authorized Messenger can serve as messenger for more than "THREE" qualified voters per election". Additionally, "No person is permitted to serve as bearer for more than "THREE" qualified voters in an election.

The Mercer County Clerk's Election Office is located on the second floor of the Courthouse Annex at 209 South Broad Street in Trenton.  Sheriff Officers will be on-site to provide security.
