Holiday Schedule-- Both the Trenton office and Hamilton location (Mercer County Connection) will close passport services on the following days and times:
Wed., November 27th – closes at 4pm (Thanksgiving Eve)

The Mercer County Clerk's Passport Services are offered at two County offices. We process applications, but we do not issue passports on-site. One location is at our main office at 209 South Broad Street in Trenton, and at the Mercer County Connection Office at State Route 33 and Paxon Avenue in Hamilton Township. Appointments are not required but are recommended for guaranteed service. We offer passport photo services at both locations for a fee.

To make an appointment at the Mercer County Connection in Hamilton, call 609-890-9800. Please note that walk-in passport applications must arrive a half hour prior to closing time on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and by 6pm on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday for guaranteed service.
Applicants must appear in person. Minors, 16 and under, must be accompanied by both parents. Completed applications upon arrival are strongly encouraged.
First time applicants must appear in person. If you presently have a passport and is not past 5 years expiration, you may be able to renew through the mail. Further details can be found at Travel.State.Gov.
Periodically, our office takes passport services to the various municipalities throughout Mercer. We advertise those dates and post them on the Mercer County Clerk's home page.

Mercer County Clerk Shares Online Passport Renewal Information
Requirements for First-Time Applicants:
- DS-11: Application for Passport (unsigned)
- Proof of Citizenship: Please supply one of the following:
- Birth Certificate - Original with raised seal or a certified copy with raised seal; Hospital certificates or baptismal certificates are unacceptable as Primary proofs of citizenship
All United States birth certificates must meet the following criteria to apply for a U.S. Passport:
- Show the full name of the parent(s);
- Be issued by the office of vital statistics of the state, county, or city where the birth occurred;
- Show the full name of child at birth;
- Indicate the date and place of birth;
- Bear the embossed, impressed, multi-colored, or raised seal and signature of the issuing authority;
- Indicate a registration or file date that is within one year of the birth; and
- Be an original and certified document (notarized copies and photocopies are not accepted)
Previous Passport
- Naturalization Certificate - Original only; It will be returned to you.
Identification
- Driver’s License - if you are at least 17 years old; learner’s permits are not acceptable; if you are 17 and do not possess a valid license, then you will use a natural parent’s license
- If you do not have a driver’s license - Be prepared to present various forms of Identification such as school/college ID, business or government ID, voter registration and/or credit cards.
- Photographs - One (1) identical, recent, passport-quality 2"x2" photos; full face; NO hat; white or light background
There are two separate fees: BRING TWO CHECKS OR MONEY ORDERS
A Passport Services fee and a separate County Clerk processing fee
Adult (16 years old and older):
- Routine - $130.00 (As of December 27, 2021) Passport Services fee (must be in the form of check or money order) $35.00 Mercer County Clerk processing fee (payable either by check, money order or credit cards)
- Expedite- $190.00 (As of December 27, 2021) Passport Services fee (must be in the form of check or money order) $35.00 Mercer County Clerk processing fee (payable either by check, money order or credit cards)
- Parents MUST submit long-form birth certificates (those that contain child's name and BOTH parent's names) for all children under age 16, even when submitting a previous passport or citizenship certificate.
Child (under 16):
- Regular- $100.00 (As of December 27,2021) Passport Services fee (must be the form of check or money order) $35.00 Mercer County Clerk processing fee (payable either by check, money order or credit cards)
- Expedite- $160.00 (As of December 27,2021) Passport Services fee (must be in the form of check or money order) $35.00 Mercer County Clerk processing fee (payable either by check, money order or credit cards)
- Both parents need to be present with applying minor.
All applicants must appear in person.
Passport Cards
In addition to standard passport booklets, US citizens and nationals can also apply for a US passport card. Passport cards are valid for entry by land or sea only to Canada, Mexico, and many Caribbean nations. It can also be used as proof of citizenship to present to a US Embassy in case your passport booklet is lost or stolen abroad. To apply for a passport card, you need to present the same forms as a booklet. Cards are valid for five years for children and ten years for adults.
Fees to apply for a passport card are as follows:
$30 for adults and minors 16 and up
$15 for children under 16
Picture fees are $15 for adults and $10 for children and seniors (62 and older)
All applications include a $35 Mercer County Clerk passport processing fee.
