Howell Farm ready for annual Plowing Match
Howell Living History Farm will hold its 36th annual Plowing Match on Saturday, Aug. 31, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Eight teams of draft animals from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York are entered in the match, which tests the performance of farmers and their horse teams.

Freeholders Donate Back-to-School Supplies to HomeFront
As summer rolls to an end, students and their parents in the Mercer County area are gearing up for the school year by gathering books and other school supplies. Sadly, not every family has the means to shop off the back-to-school lists provided by area schools.

County to replace bridge on Washington Crossing-Pennington Road
The Mercer County Department of Transportation and Infrastructure will start the replacement of the bridge on Washington Crossing-Pennington Road (County Route 546) over Woolsey Brook in Hopewell Township on Tuesday, Aug. 20. The structure is located between Scotch Road and Bear Tavern Road.

Mercer County 4-H Fair set for Aug. 3-4
The 101st annual Mercer County 4-H Fair featuring children’s activities, hayrides, animal shows, music, farm tours, exhibits and more will be held Saturday, Aug. 3, and Sunday, Aug. 4, at Howell Living History Farm in Hopewell Township. Admission and parking are free.

Excessive Heat Watch issued; cooling sites open
The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Watch for Mercer County and the surrounding area from Wednesday morning, July 17, through Sunday evening, July 21, and County Executive Brian M. Hughes is reminding residents that many cooling sites are open.

Mercer debuts bike-share program at county parks
The County of Mercer, the Mercer County Park Commission and Zagster have launched a bike-share program now available to the public in the County Parks system. Bikes are located at Mercer County Park and at Rosedale Park and the Red Barn in Mercer Meadows.
